Welcome to Is This Available? by Dana and Maria, our weekly blast about something we find on Facebook Marketplace.
Brooklyn, New York
I’ve returned from the lakeshores of West Michigan to let you know that the American Dream is alive in the Midwest. Bottle service mimosa for $25, a Nordstrom Rack where no one wants the same affordably-priced accessories I want, and a not insignificant number of Don’t Tread on Me signs :/. I’m coming clean to say that I missed last week’s newsletter because I was exercising my God-given right to be on a boat instead of going beep boop beep at my computer.
All midwestern quaintness aside, I saw this sassy little guy broadcast from the Hewes J stop region of my home borough. Handle, spout, neckerchief check.
Hey Siri play Cowboy Take Me Away. Today, I hope you celebrate your freedom to toot scoot n boogie and consider whether jeans belong on teapots, swimsuits, shoes (sandal-boots to be exact) or lampshades.
Speaking of tea, the swampy vibes of late say fuck a teapot, we’re getting it iced!
Not that iced!
But maybe this iced?
I think this charming 1980s floral ice bucket would be the perfect receptacle for ice to put in a glass of iced tea. Which leads me to Is This Available’s first ever “recipe” by yours truly.
Maria’s Iced Tea for 2pm When You Want Coffee #3 But it Will Make You Act and Feel Unseemly
Get a handful of mint and muddle or famously mash mash mash it with 1 tbsp sugar in one of these quart containers like you are on The Bear.
Do cheating vibes and put 2 bags of this cold brew tea from Trader Joes in the same container.
Cover with water and put in the fridge until the tea moment strikes.
It will be pretty strong when you take it out so strain out the mint and pour it over ice. Or if you are too lazy to strain it you can just sip and have the mint leaves as a little snack to chew on like a feral woodland creature.
Stay cool today, chefs!!
Dana’s miss of the week: I’m back stateside from Portugal and would like to see Maria’s slinger take on my two teapots from Lisbon. A little 2 v 1 action never hurt nobody!
